Project Overview
 Our client, Auto-Floc, is a New Zealand-based company providing automated flocculant dosing solutions for sediment-laden runoff at construction and earthworks sites. The Auto-Floc system is designed to improve environmental compliance, reduce manual handling of chemicals, and increase operational efficiency through real-time monitoring and automation.
Background
 Managing stormwater runoff and sediment control is a critical part of civil construction in New Zealand. Auto-Floc developed a solar-powered, lightweight dosing system capable of delivering precise flocculant amounts in response to site-specific environmental data. With real-time data reporting via a dedicated web and mobile platform, the Auto-Floc system provides a proactive, automated approach to stormwater treatment.
Challenges Faced
- Manual Chemical Handling: Traditional flocculant application required significant on-site labour and increased safety risks. 
- Compliance Requirements: Increasing regulatory demands around stormwater treatment require more accurate and auditable chemical dosing. 
- Environmental Impact: Conventional dosing systems contributed to waste through smaller containers and reactive dosing methods.

- Custom Web Application & IoT Integration: Built an intelligent cloud-based platform enabling remote control, monitoring, and scheduling of Auto-Floc units across multiple sites. 
- Data-Driven Dosing Logic: Developed software that adjusts chemical application based on rainfall, flow rate, and tank levels to ensure precise dosing and compliance. 
- Low Power Embedded System Design: Utilized the Particle IDE to create a battery-operated, low-power embedded system, ideal for remote, solar-powered deployments with minimal maintenance. 
- Custom Hardware Development: Designed and manufactured a custom PCB tailored to the mechanical constraints of the Auto-Floc enclosure, ensuring robust performance in harsh outdoor conditions.
